MLM Prospecting Tips #1: Target QUALITY people!
One of the things that many people tend to do is try to target people who are under them in the economic food chain. They go after their broke friends, family, next door neighbor, the broke janitor at Walmart who’s been working there for 25 years. They see those folks and think to themselves that they need the opportunity. You don’t wanna do that.
You want to find people who have a desire to change something in their lives. You want to find people who have the attitude and aptitude to do this business. There’s nothing exciting when trying to convince broke complaining folks with such a negative mindset that network marketing is the way to go. Yea you might find one or 2 who are serious but generally, you shouldn’t be spending your time with these folks.
Instead, spend time looking for people who have a much greater chance at succeeding in this company. Target people like real estate agents, financial planners, small business owners, professional sales agents, customer service reps, managers. These people generally keep an open mind and are able to recognize an opportunity when they see one. You won’t hear one of those “It sounds too good to be true” statements from those folks. I’m not saying to totally shut down your friends and family but they’re generally good as customers for your products or service. If you want to build a serious residual income, you need other business builders. Professionals are higher quality people for you.
MLM Prospecting Tips #2: Quick Qualification
You’re not there to explain and present. You simply want to see if they’re open to a side project. One of these best and easiest lines you can use is: “Do you keep your options open when it comes to making any money outside of what you’re currently doing in your profession?” It’s a quick qualifying question that determines if the person is even open. You don’t want to waste your time with everyone and anyone.
Find out if they’re open and if they are simply send them to your company’s presentation. If you start explaining, your prospect will think that they have to explain, and that’s why you’ll get the “I don’t have the time” objection. See if they’re open, then send them to an online presentation or send them whatever prospecting material your company has to offer. Then don’t forget to follow up. ALWAYS FOLLOW UP!!
MLM Prospecting Tips #3: Get Rid Of The Emotions
This is a business. You can’t be attached to the outcome. Some will, some won’t, so what, who cares. NEXT!!! Don’t invest all your energy into one prospect and then get totally discouraged because they don’t decide to join. Some will see the opportunity, some won’t. Your job is to work with those who are IN. Don’t invest and waste your energy on prospects who are still on the fence. Work with those who have joined you. Too many times people are hoping and wishing that “that one prospect” will join, and then get really discouraged when they don’t join. Remove the emotion and you’ll actually have fun doing your prospecting.
