Pretty interesting headline isn’t it? Well that is the story of one of my online mentors named Mike Dillard. He went from waiting tables to millionaire in 18 months. But I’m not going to talk about his story on this blog post. I’m going to talk about something much more important when it comes to online marketing success or any business success for that matter. So it’s been a few weeks since I’ve blogged or wrote an article. I was busy doing some work on another business project and I was out of town in Montreal, Canada visiting family for about a week. Nonetheless it feels great to be able to blog and write something this morning. I really wanted to talk for a moment about mindset when it comes to online marketing.

See here’s the deal. I’ve been online since August 2010 and it’s been one of the craziest roller coaster rides I’ve ever witnessed. I mean when I first came online, I had NO IDEA what I was doing. I didn’t even know what a capture page was. Or an autoresponder. Or copywriting. Lol. Heck I thought copywriting was some kind of legal stuff about CD’s and books and stuff like that. So the point is, it was a TOTALLY NEW WORLD for me.

So here I was buying this course, buying that product, buying this DVD, buying this marketing system, buying everything under the sun. I really did not know what I was doing. So after about 4 months, I made a cool $20 commission. I didn’t even know how I got that commission but I wish I would have just stuck to what I was doing because something had worked. Instead and I went on and kept buying, and buying, and buying, and jumping from one strategy to the other, and getting overwhelmed. I got to the point where I wanted to give up so many times but my mind just wouldn’t let me do it.

Fast forward to today and my business is growing. I’ve figured out a few things that have helped me become more profitable. And I’ve been consistently making money online for the last 5 months. No it’s not where I want it to be just yet but I’m definitely headed towards that direction.

So here’s the brutal honest truth when it comes to building your MLM business or making money online:

IT’S A LONG-TERM ADVENTURE THAT HAS NO SHORT-CUTS, PERIOD!!

That’s right. There is no magic bullet, there is no magic system that will get you rich in 30 days, there is nothing for FREE as well. Everything in business has a cost and you have to be wiling to invest and be in it for the long run. If you come online with the wrong mindset, thinking that you’ll become rich in a few weeks or months, you are ABSOLUTELY fooling yourself!

It doesn’t exist and it NEVER WILL!

All these gurus that you see online making tens of thousands of dollars per month, making 7, 8 figures per year ALL have gone through the process and became rich over an extended period of time. When you hear stories like Mike Dillard that says “From waiting tables to millionaire in 18 months“, notice the time frame: 18 months!

That’s a year and a half folks! Not 18 days!

So my best advice for you is that once you decide you’re going to do internet marketing, make sure you place in your head that you are embarking on a long term endeavor. Rome wasn’t built in 3 months. The freedom tower that’s being built right now in New York City is still under construction and has been in construction for over 5 years now (doesn’t it look beautiful by the way?). When you go to school and study to become a doctor or lawyer, you don’t graduate in 3 months.

And the same goes for internet marketing, network marketing, ANY business!

If you have the right mindset, you’re focused, and you’re disciplined over a long period of time, you will achieve the lifestyle of your dreams and be financial free. It definitely won’t be easy, but it will be worth it! One of the reasons why Mike Dillard, Daegan Smith, Ray Higdon, and so many other people are making a killing is because they simply didn’t give up and they thought long-term. This is exactly why I’m still in business and making money. If you never give up and think long-term, you will win!
